Hi everyone, well it's been awhile. I will try and summarize the last few months as briefly as possible. To start, this was the last picture of Emily that we received back in March. From that point on everything got crazy. What we were told was there was an error on some paperwork and due to all the changes that are taking place with adoptions in Guatemala they are really looking so carefully at any mistakes and investigating the whats and whys. So at that time she was taken from her foster mother and placed in an orphanage somewhere in the city. It had been seven months that we didn't know where she was. We got to the point that we thought this was over and she was "lost" somewhere. Just about when we were going to say we are done, we got the information as to where she is and that there is a court hearing on January 15, 9:00am for a judge to rule on letting her adoption continue. We were also told that the judge sees no reason to not let the case finalize. Great news! However, after the hearing in January, the case then goes back to the original court where the adoption process started. So it could be several more months until we would be able to bring her home. Please pray for her (and all the other children) that are in so many orphanages around the world. They all need homes and we have learned that it isn't as easy as we thought it would be to give a child a home. But we have to persevere and see what God has planned. She is now sixteen months old, we last saw her when she was seven months. We don't know what she looks like now or really how she is, we are trusting God to take care of her.

So after months of silence, we are back in this full speed ahead. We have had some set backs on how to fund the final fees so we are applying for adoption grants, asking for donations, and having another fund raiser garage sale.

We were told that we are allowed to attend the hearing in January, and we both feel it would be a good thing. Just one of us would go due to cost, we would like to raise enough money with the garage sale to pay for one plane ticket so one of us could be there for the court date. We would then both need to go when we are legally her parents and can bring her home.

I guess this posting wasn't very brief, but now you have the whole story. Thank you all so much for all the support and prayers through these many months. We love you all.
